Day 89 - Getting ready to continue

Okay, so it's been a while, I have to admit! I've been waiting for some parts, and since some of them are fairly critical, and there isn't really a huge amount to do, I've not done any work. These parts are:

  1. Drive shafts
  2. Banjo fittings for brake/clutch master reservoir
  3. Manual throttle body
  4. Gear stick linkage extension cables
  5. Cluch inlet cable
  6. Blanking plate for gearbox
  7. Replacement water temperature sender
  8. Replacement air temperature sender

In the intervening months, only the banjo fittings had turned up...

Since I've just sold my other kit car, and I knew that the drive shafts had finally been started, I decided that I would order some of the bits myself.

So, earlier in the week, the manual throttle body turned up:

And I also ordered the clutch inlet cable:

I only really need this bit:

Both of these parts were brand new, so instead of costing probably £50 for the two, it ended up being nearer £300.

As I was quite raring to crack on, this evening I fitted the clutch pipe. I used the rubber pipe because it already had the right fitting to go on the cable:

I was quite pleased as to how little corrosion there was on the discs - but then it has been pretty warm since I moved the car into my garage (except the past week).

I've also ordered some material to make the seat (some more Alicante, some padding as well as some edge piping). This will be arriving Monday, so this weekend I'm aiming to get the banjo fittings done, and maybe even get all the brakes fitted and bled - it all depends on what the weather does! I'll also have a look at reversing the gearbox mechanism (so the cables come out the back of the box, and through the rear bulkhead - which means shorter extension cables).
