Yesterday was a complete washout, so I didn't really do anything - except get some brake hose for attaching the reservoir to the master cylinders (which I forgot to use today).
So today, I wanted to sort out the inner compartment - the gearstick, handbrake and seats. I cut some of the foam away from the gearstick mechanism to get it so it'll fit around the seat:
Unfortunately, the handbrake is too low, and touches the gearstick mechanism:
With the new driver's seat, this is a very tight squeeze:
I decided that the first thing I needed to fit was the seat - I had bought some side plates, but the centre two chassis rails get in the way. The easiest way was to cut some 6mm bar out, and weld it to the chassis:
After welding some tags to allow it to sit more comfortably, I welded the tabs to the chassis:
I then got some of the foam I'd been experimenting with earlier:
The handbrake took a lot of work to fit, and a heck of a lot of head scratching - I ended up welding a bolt on the seat tag, and pushing it towards the passenger a bit:
While I was there, I tried the right hand passenger seat - the driver's seat is quite sharp (it hasn't been trimmed), but does look like it may get in the way. I may have to either trim it a bit narrower, or move it forward (which could then cause problems with the handbrake. Oh dear!
I also measured how much I needed the gearbox cables extended. One needs to be extended by about 15cm, and the other by nearer 30. However, I'll get the cables extended by 60cm, so I'll be able to hide the joins beind the passenger seat.
