Firstly, I trial fitted the dashboard.
Looks good! However, I don't want stuff getting on it, so it's staying indoors until it's ready to be fitted properly.
Before it went in, it needed the front bolts cut down so the DigiDash cables can connect.
And with it safely put away, I started work on the rear section, getting it to open and close nicely.
The body needed a slight modification for it to fit around one of the sides of the roll cage. John suggested I cut more than this, and extend the panels that he'd got made to replace what I had cut away to fit. I'll think about this later.
This'll do for now - I'll clean it up later on.
The reason for working on this now was to allow me to fit the filler cap. On the demonstrator, it's inside the rear section, so you need to open it up to fill up. I want to have it available without having to open anything - the side (where Scott's Aeon has it) is too problematic now I have the rear latch post in place, so this is the next best place.
The rear hinge was bolted to the bottom of the rear section - it should be bolted to the join between the two parts, which gives it more rigidity. Since the bars were too short, I couldn't use them - but made a different style instead.
This was much better, but it was still a little loose - the right angle section was twisting slightly, so I added some more to the sides.
The hinge now opens very nicely, and it closes about 5mm away from where it's meant to be - this'll be fixable with some alignment pins. I may add some extra braces to the underside of the top part at a later date.
I then painted all of this, and also put some body filler in the front lights - tomorrow, I'll paint them and maybe start to wire them.
I did a lot more sanding to the rear section again (I do a little bit from time to time - it's very boring).
It's closer than before, but still needs a little more on it.
In the comfort of home, I wired the dashboard.
And tomorrow, I'll fit the lights and the filler cap.
(Just need to drop it down). Oh - and it'll remain in that place, so the rear section will open around it.
